JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Lipscomb Track & Field traveled to Jacksonville, Florida for the ASUN Outdoor Championships from May 14–16, turning in a strong championship performance highlighted by conference titles, meet records, podium finishes, and personal bests across distance, hurdles, relays, and field events.
The Bisons were dominant in the distance events throughout the weekend, highlighted by an ASUN meet record from Ellie Brewer in the women's 10,000m. Brewer captured the conference title in 34:44.10, leading a Lipscomb sweep of the top three spots alongside Aly Negovetich and Abigail Horevay. Negovetich finished second in 34:52.37, while Horevay placed third in 35:07.77.
The men's distance squad followed suit in the 10,000m as Chase Atkins claimed the ASUN title with a winning time of 30:11.14. Connor Sarkovics and Cole Kimmel added top-10 finishes to give the Bisons a strong opening day.
On the track, Joel Nimoh continued his standout freshman campaign with runner-up finishes in the men's 200m and strong performances in the 100m. Nimoh clocked 21.26 in the 200m final after qualifying with a 21.28 in prelims, while also placing sixth in the 100m final.
In the field events, Justin Davis earned two podium finishes for the Bisons, placing second in the men's long jump with a mark of 7.53m before adding a fifth-place finish in the triple jump.
The women's distance crew continued to shine throughout the championship meet. Liza Corso earned runner-up honors in the women's 1500m with a time of 4:22.71, while Harley Kletz and Linda Perez followed in third and fourth. Perez later returned to place third in the women's 5000m.
The steeplechase group also added valuable points, highlighted by Bing Hudson's third-place finish in the men's 3000m steeplechase and Leonie Saurer's third-place finish in the women's race.
In the hurdles, Hannah Wright led the women's squad with a third-place finish in the 100m hurdles before adding points in the 400m hurdles. Freshman KeShawn Allen advanced to finals in both hurdle events and continued his strong outdoor campaign.
Middle-distance performances were another key strength for Lipscomb. Max Hooper placed third in the men's 800m in 1:49.09, while Abigail Alvarado added a third-place finish in the women's 800m.
Relay action closed out the championships, with the women's and men's 4x400m relay squads both earning fifth-place finishes.
