LEXINGTON, Ky. – Lipscomb Track & Field competed at the NCAA East Preliminary Round hosted by the University of Kentucky from May 27-30, with the Bisons represented across multiple events against some of the top athletes in the nation. Highlighting the week was sophomore Max Hooper, who secured a berth to the NCAA Outdoor Championships in Eugene, Oregon.
Hooper delivered a standout performance in the men's 1500m. After advancing through the opening round with a qualifying time of 3:43.84, he returned in the quarterfinals and ran a personal-best 3:39.33 to finish seventh overall and earn one of the coveted qualifying spots to the NCAA Championships. His performance marks the culmination of a breakthrough outdoor season that included multiple program records and nationally competitive marks.
Senior Bing Hudson represented Lipscomb in the men's 3000m steeplechase quarterfinals, finishing in 8:56.78 against one of the deepest steeplechase fields in the country.
Freshman KeShawn Allen concluded an impressive debut season in the men's 110m hurdles, clocking 14.87 in the first round. Allen advanced to the NCAA East Preliminary after establishing himself as one of the ASUN's top hurdlers throughout the season.
In the field events, junior Justin Davis competed in the men's long jump, recording a mark of 7.32m (24-0¼) against a highly competitive regional field.
On the women's side, senior Mia Bergman represented the Bisons in the women's 10,000m semifinal, crossing the finish line in 35:08.10 to cap an outstanding season that included All-ASUN honors and multiple distance scoring performances.
With Hooper's qualification, Lipscomb will now have representation at the NCAA Outdoor Championships, where he will compete against the nation's top 24 athletes in the men's 1500m.
