Lipscomb University Athletics Spiritual Formation is thrilled to announce the 13th year of the annual 555 Prayer Card Campaign!
"God is so incredibly faithful," said Christopher Klotz, Senior Associate Athletic Director for Spiritual Engagement. "Each and every year, the kindness of God is on display as He takes a simple piece of paper, willing and humble hearts committed to prayer, and does more than we could ever imagine. We are so grateful for the many people who dedicate their time and energy to praying for our student-athletes. We are excited to see how God will move through this opportunity!"
The 555 Prayer Card Campaign invites anyone who is willing and excited to pray for five student-athletes, five minutes a day, five days a week, throughout the year. Over the years, this initiative has continued to grow, with increasing enthusiasm from both prayer cardholders and student-athletes.
The mission of the campaign is to surround every student-athlete with encouragement, protection, and guidance through prayer. Most importantly, we pray that each student-athlete would come to know the Lord and experience the abundant life that only He can offer.
What makes the 555 Campaign so unique is the way it demonstrates that God works not only through individual prayers, but also through the collective prayers of an entire community. Hundreds of people faithfully interceding for student-athletes, often without ever meeting them or knowing the full impact their prayers are having.
The blessing often extends beyond the student-athlete and also to the people who faithfully pray. Kathy Meadow, Executive Assistant in the Office of Student Life, has been praying for student-athletes for many years. She shared how meaningful this initiative has been to her personally saying. "It is such an honor to pray for our athletes. I can't imagine how hard it is to juggle classes, practices, workouts, and actual sporting events as a student athlete. It has to be grueling and exhausting at times but also extremely satisfying. I hope these athletes are encouraged each day knowing someone is praying for them -- for their safety, health, and for their relationship with Christ to grow not only while they are here at Lipscomb but for the rest of their lives."
"Seeing the impact of the campaign on athletes and prayer cardholders year after year has been both humbling and inspiring," Klotz added. "The faithfulness of God and the power of prayer shine through this initiative, reminding us that a posture of prayer can lead to profound transformation. We are deeply grateful for the extraordinary support and willingness of so many people who faithfully pray for our student-athletes."
