Robert Zeigler enters his fourth season in 2027 with the Lipscomb University Baseball program as the Pitching Coach.
A member of two ASUN Tournament Championships on the Bisons coaching staff (2023, 2026), Zeigler's 2026 arm barn tallied 424 strikeouts, 7.9 per nine innings, which led the Gold Division and was fourth overall in the league.
In 2023, the pitching staff led the ASUN in ERA (5.22), WHIP (1.35) and walks allowed per nine innings (3.82).
He joined the Bisons staff as the Director of Player Development in August 2023 and was promoted to pitching coach a few weeks prior to the 2024 season.
He arrived in the Music City after serving as the Director of Pitching at X2 Baseball in Concord, North Carolina. While with the club, he trained roughly 400 athletes from high school to the professional ranks, focusing on throwing program design, movement efficiency/mechanical analysis and pitch design, leading to improved on-field performance.
His coaching career began at Defiance College in Ohio in 2020, where he served as an assistant coach.
Zeigler had an extensive playing career that started at the University of Kentucky, where he spent the 2014 and 2015 seasons as a Wildcat before transferring to Kent State University for two seasons. During the 2016 and 2017 campaigns with the Golden Flashes, he made 33 appearances, pitching 51.2 innings and striking out 57 batters. Compiling a 3-2 record, he recorded eight career saves and a 3.83 earned run average.
A native of Defiance, Ohio, Zeigler graduated from Kent State University with a bachelor's degree in organizational communication before moving on to complete a master's degree in sport and recreation management.
