KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. – The Lipscomb women’s golf team opened spring action on Sunday afternoon in the Edwin Watts/Kiawah Island Spring Classic at the Oak Point Course at the Kiawah Island Golf Resort in 34th place after 18 holes in the 41-team field.
Lipscomb combined for a +36, 324 in the opening day of the 54-hole event that runs through Tuesday in the Palmetto State. Chattanooga sits atop the field after 18 holes with a -5, 283.
Herd notes:
- Samantha Griffith led the Lady Bisons with a +4, 76 to finish the first day tied for 71st.
- Miriam Parker finished one stroke behind Griffith in a tie for 89th.
- Lily McDonald carded a +11, 83 to tie for 171st
- Ashton Martin fired a +16, 88 to end the day 202nd and just one shot ahead of Charley Benefield, who is tied for 203rd
- Play resumes on Monday at 9:39 a.m. for the Lady Bisons
