Game Recap: Men's Basketball | | Kirk Downs

Men's Basketball falls at SEMO despite Wolfe's career night

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – Despite a career-high from Jake Wolfe and a hot stroke from the Bisons outside, the Lipscomb men's basketball team dropped its fourth-straight game Monday, falling 82-77 to Southeast Missouri at the Show Me Center. It was the front end of a home-and-home series in three days.

Wolfe finished the night with 22 points, three assists and two rebounds. He was 7-of-10 from the field and also drained a career-high four triples.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Behind the team's leading deep threat Greg Jones, the Bisons (1-4) got hot early connecting on six of the first seven three-point attempts. Jones hit three of those triples and scored 11 quick points to help the Bisons to a 22-13 lead just over six minutes into the game.

The Redhawks answered with a 13-2 run to grab its first lead when leading-scorer Chris Harris buried a three with 10 minutes to play in the first half. Lipscomb would end up trailing for the remainder of the half, despite six three-pointers and a 50-percent clip from the floor. Ahsan Asadullah scored the final three points of the half for the Bisons and SEMO took a 39-37 lead into intermission.

Asadullah and Wolfe combined to score the first 11 points for Lipscomb out of the break, including a pair of triples from latter, but the Redhawks continued to lead. With SEMO stretching it out to its largest lead of the night at 67-61 with 8:13 on the clock, Wolfe put the Bisons on his back and began going to work.

The junior scored nine of the team's next 11 points and had an answer every time SEMO struck. The Bisons would get to within a single point on three occasions late in the half, but could never get that crucial stop.

Down six, Jones nailed a deep three off an inbounds with 1:24 to play to make it a one-possession game, but SEMO connected on 4-of-5 free throws down the stretch to put the game away, despite being the worst free-throw shooting team in the Ohio Valley Conference.
Lipscomb shot 60.9 percent in the second half, making 14-of-23 shots, but it wasn't enough as its seven turnovers in the half were turned into 12 points for SEMO.
