Men's Basketball struggles in loss to LIberty

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – For just the first time in five games, the Lipscomb men's basketball team found itself in the losing column as Liberty came away with a 66-50 victory Saturday afternoon in Allen Arena.

The loss halted a four-game losing streak and dropped the Bisons to 6-6 overall and 1-1 in ASUN Conference play. Liberty improved to 9-4 and 1-1.

In limited action after getting in foul trouble, Ahsan Asadullah led the team in scoring (15) and rebounding (7) after going 5-for-7 in only 19 minutes.

HOW IT HAPPENED
In a much different game than Friday, the Bisons were ice cold out of the gate and hit just two of their first 13 shot attempts.

After scoring 24 points in the opener, Asadullah was whistled for two quick fouls Saturday and had to sit the final 14:30 of the first half.

Romeao Ferguson kept Lipscomb in the game, scoring all 11 of his points before halftime. Liberty hit six 3-pointers and limited the Bisons to their lowest scoring output in a half this season after leading 30-20 at the break.

The Flames raced their lead out to 21 after a 10-0 run following back-to-back threes in the first four minutes.

Six minutes later, Lipscomb tried to get back into the game with a 7-0 run of its own after five straight points from Asadullah, cutting its deficit to 12. That would be as close as the Bisons would get.
