Lipscomb Updates COVID Guidelines For Spring Sports

NASHVILLE – As we approach the spring sports season that will features a full-slate of games, the Lipscomb Athletics department announces updates to its COVID-19 guidelines.

The Bisons have a long list of protocols in place for the game, a combination of ASUN rules with state and local restrictions, that are all intended to enable the team to play their home schedule while keeping players and fans alike as safe as possible.

SAFETY
All Bisons Care is Lipscomb's comprehensive plan to keep our campus and community safe by limiting the spread of COVID-19. The plan is based on the following premises: prevention, robust responses, investments, staffing and guidelines.

As it relates to Allen Arena for basketball and volleyball, the University has invested in sanitizing stations, social distancing guidelines and signage to combat the spread of the virus. In addition, in an effort to provide physical distancing for all fans inside the arena, we will be reducing seating to roughly 20% of Allen Arena's total capacity by implementing and enforcing the following:

CAPACITY LIMITED
The Bisons will be allowed to fill roughly 20 percent capacity in all their on-campus venues: Allen Arena, Draper Diamond, Dugan Field and the Soccer Complex.

Those seats are available in most areas of the stadium except for the first rows closest to the playing surface. In Allen, the first seven rows of seating on the west (behind the team benches) and south perimeters will be off-limits, causing the first part of those sections to be pushed in completely to allow for an ASUN mandated 12-foot distance between players and fans.

Seats in ALL venues are being sold under a pod system, in blocks of two, four and six seats, depending on the size of the rows in each section. The aisle seats on each end of an open row will be unavailable. Every other row will be unavailable to allow for a minimum 6-foot buffer between rows of fans.

ENTERING THE VENUES
At this time, fans that are ages 5 & up will be required to wear face coverings from the time they enter the gates. The only time masks can be removed is when you are actively eating or drinking. If a fan refuses to wear a mask, they will not be allowed to enter and if they refuse to follow masking protocol at any time while at the event, they will be promptly escorted out of the venue.

All ticketing is mobile and will be scanned at the entrance and fans will also be required to get their temperature checked.

Each person wanting to enter will be asked to review a list of symptoms commonly associated with Covid-19 and to confirm that they are symptom-free before being allowed to enter the premises.

SANITIZERS, ETC.
There will be hand-sanitizing stations throughout each facility, including concession stands and other "touch points." Employees will be disinfecting surfaces numerous times during the day, using a substance that kills viruses on contact. There will be numerous signs and public address announcements about safety protocols throughout the arena.

To see in more detail how game days will operate, follow along with Athletic Director Philip Hutcheson as he takes fans on a virtual tour of Allen Arena's COVID protocols to show fans what they can expect come game day.
