NASHVILLE -- Lipscomb Athletic Director Philip Hutcheson announced the promotion of Scott McKenzie to Director of Athletics Compliance in September. McKenzie has been an integral part of the athletics department since Spring 2021, and this new role reflects his ongoing work and dedication to ensuring institutional integrity and supporting our student-athletes' success.
During his five and a half years at Lipscomb, McKenzie has worked under the leadership of John Ezell (Senior Associate AD for Compliance/Athletics Controller), Grace Ann Miller (Senior Associate AD for Student Success/SWA), and Alex Schock (Assistant AD for Compliance). During his time, he has improved existing compliance standards, helped the department stay on top of the changing NCAA landscape, and launched new student-athlete initiatives. His active involvement with the NCAA national office has made him a trusted resource for our department on governance and policy changes.
In his new role, McKenzie will continue to work to help ensure adherence to NCAA, conference, and university rules across recruiting, eligibility, financial aid, and student-athlete welfare. He will manage NIL education and monitoring, oversee the TeamWorks program, serve as one of our liaisons to campus offices like Admissions and Financial Aid, and assist in leading rules education for coaches, staff, and boosters.
McKenzie was a two-time team captain and All-Conference performer in Cross Country and Track & Field at Lipscomb. He earned a BBA in Marketing and Management, a Master of Business Administration, and is now pursuing his Ph.D. in Policy and Leadership at Lipscomb, with his dissertation focusing on international student-athlete retention.Â
