NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Powered by a three-point performance from Allie Dunn, the Bisons stunned the Central Arkansas with an emphatic 3-0 victory to leap the Bears in the standings and claim the top seed in the ASUN West division on Saturday night.
After an opening celebration of Lipscomb's two seniors in Kammy McGee and Kristi Jones, the Bisons came out from the opening kickoff with their foot pressed firmly on the gas. Lipscomb controlled possession almost exclusively on the Bears' end of the pitch and put heavy pressure on Keyla Perez in goal firing four quick shots in the span of two minutes.
Nineteen minutes into the match Dunn slid a pass into Shelby Craft. The captain dragged the ball on to her right foot and looped her shot over the goalkeeper just inside the far post to open the scoring for Lipscomb.
The pressure continued to mount as the Bisons kept Central Arkansas' backs to the wall. In the 41st minute Lipscomb struck again with a devastating blow just minutes before the intermission. This time it was Emanuela Schurch who picked out Haley Williams on the left wing with an arching, diagonal ball. With a sliding touch on the volley, Williams chipped her shot over the keeper to double the lead.
It only took ten minutes of play in the second half for Lipscomb to snuff out any chance of a comeback attempt. It was Dunn who slammed that door shut when she drew a penalty in on goal and converted the chance from the spot.
The win clinches the top seed for the Bisons in the ASUN West bracket of the conference tournament. Lipscomb will faceoff with western foe Jacksonville State at home to kick off the post-season.
