NASHVILLE, Tenn. – In an ASUN crossover match that featured a weather delay, three goals, and 20 total shots on goal, the Bisons cruised past the Owls on a rainy Sunday afternoon in Nashville.
The Bisons and Owls traded blows early in a tightly contested first 15 minutes of play. Both teams searched for the opening goal but were met first with the sight of lightning that sent the game into a delay after only 27 minutes on the pitch.
After a 1.5-hour break in the action, the teams resumed with a Bisons corner kick. Though Lipscomb did not convert on the opening set piece, the Bisons came out firing. Lipscomb came up just short of the opening goal after several chances inside the Kennesaw State penalty area.
In the 42
nd minute,
Shelby Craft collected inside the box and was brought down by a Kennesaw State defender to draw the first penalty kick of the Bisons season.
Emanuela Schurch took her chance with class as she passed it into the right side of goal to earn the Bisons a one-goal advantage at the break.
As is their custom, the Bisons opened the second period with energy. It took just seven minutes to capitalize on their early dominance as
Haley Williams fired a shot that the Kennesaw State keeper was unable to corral.
Shadia Valenzuela was waiting and finished her tap-in chance to double the Bisons lead.
In the final minutes of the game
Alivia Carapazza hit a high-arching ball over the Kennesaw State line to release
Molly Grant. Running on to the perfectly placed pass Grant fired her shot into the roof of the net to add to punctuate a dominating performance from Lipscomb.
