LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Sparked by an extraordinary strike from
Shelby Craft, the Bisons opened up ASUN divisional play with a dominating performance over the Knights of Bellarmine on Thursday night.
The Bisons hit the ground running as they fired off a pair of shots while earning two corner kicks in the opening ten minutes of play. Craft made sure the Bisons capitalized on their positive start when she collected a bouncing ball in the midfield. With two touches towards goal, the holding midfielder fired off a laser of a shot straight into the top corner of goal to put the Bisons on top. "Obviously that moment is exciting for anyone who gets to experience it, but it takes a lot to get to that moment, and I think the team effort to get there and get to celebrate with everyone who put me in the position to score that goal was just the sweetest thing" said Craft on the go-ahead effort.
Just eight minutes later,
Allie Dunn played a ball to the feet of
Emanuela Schurch just outside the Bellarmine penalty area. With one touch Schurch arched her pass over the Bellarmine back like to set up a tap-in goal for team-leader
Cami Rogers to double the Lipscomb lead.
In the second half of the match, Bellarmine began to fight their way back into the game. Each team dug their heels in defensively and created a true battle in the midfield. However, Lipscomb's back line never wavered as they allowed just three shots with only two on target for Graham to save. "I have one hundred percent trust in them which makes my job ten times easier. It's because of them that I am able to have the record I have." Graham said of her back line.
Lipscomb earns three points to go top of the table in the western division.
