CHARLESTON, S.C. – Freshman guard Tommy Murr had a career night and Ahsan Asadullah reeled in a double-double, but it wasn't enough for the Lipscomb men's basketball team on the road as they dropped an 86-77 decision to College of Charleston Friday night at TD Arena in the Rising Coaches Classic.
Murr dropped in a career-high 22 points after going 6-of-9 from three-point range. Asadullah finished with 15 points and 10 rebounds for his second double-double in as many games.
Will Pruitt added 14 points and KJ Johnson contributed 10.
The Bisons shot 45 percent from the field and held the Cougars to just 37 percent, but the difference in the game was the 22 points College of Charleston scored off 19 purple and gold turnovers.
Lipscomb built a 38-31 lead in the first half behind the hot-shooting of Murr, who shot 4-for-4 from deep in the opening 20 minutes, including three makes on four possessions.
With under four minutes to play in the first half, the Cougars closed the period on a 15-2 run and send Lipscomb to the locker room trailing 46-41.
The momentum continued early in the second half, as College of Charleston pushed its lead to as many as 19, but the Bisons fought back and got it to within three after mounting a 12-1 run behind another 8-point run from Murr.
Trailing 72-69, the Cougars scored nine of the next 10 points and pushed the advantage back to double-digits before sinking free throws down the stretch to seal the game.
