
Bisons take down Loyola Maryland behind Ognacevic's 20 points

CHARLESTON, S.C. – Four Bisons scored in double figures to lead the Lipscomb men's basketball team to a 70-65 victory over Loyola-Maryland on Sunday in the final contest of the Rising Coaches Classic at TD Arena. It was the second victory for Lipscomb in 15 hours after defeating South Carolina State in the late game on Saturday.
Jacob Ognacevic finished with a team-high 20 points, while shooting 5-of-7 from the floor, 3-of-3 from long distance and a perfect 7-of-7 from the charity stripe.
Ahsan Asadullah just missed a fourth-consecutive double-double as he recorded 13 points and nine rebounds. Greg Jones knocked down three triples and finished with 12 points, while KJ Johnson added 10.
With the game tied at 10, the Bisons got back-to-back three-pointers from Jones and Ognacevic to spark an 11-0 run that put them in front 21-10.
A few minutes later, Johnson scored knocked down another purple and gold triple and the Bisons put together a 14-3 run to take a 38-21 lead into the half.
Ognacevic (11), Jones (11) and Johnson (10) paced the team in the opening 20 minutes.
The Bisons had runs of 8-2 and 9-2 in the first nine minutes of the second half to give them their biggest lead of the day at 59-37. From that point on, Lipscomb had trouble finding the bottom of the net.
Over the last 4:49 of the game the Bisons were held without a field goal, while the Greyhounds used a 16-1 run to make it a two-point game at 67-65.
Freshman Will Pruitt stepped up to the line and made three free throws over in the final 28 seconds to secure the 70-65 win for Lipscomb.

- Lipscomb shot 49% from the field (20-of-41), 50% from deep (8-of-16) and 67% from the stripe (22-of-33).
- They outrebounded the Greyhounds 38-26, but scored just two second chance points.
- Loyola took advantage of 19 Bison miscues, turning those into 25 points off turnovers. The Bisons scored just six off nine takeaways.
- Parker Hazen added six points and five rebounds in 28 minutes.
- Pruitt scored four points, but set career highs with 10 rebounds and five assists.
- Lipscomb led for 37:07 of the game.
