THE SHORT STORY: Another double digit outing from Lipscomb's Maddie Cook carried the Bisons to an early lead as they cruised to an 86-44 victory over Tennessee Wesleyan on Sunday afternoon at Allen Arena.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
 
After a combined four straight misses from both teams, Lipscomb got things kickstarted with an 11-3 run highlighted by four points and an assist from Cook. The Bisons shot 52-percent (9-of-17) in the opening frame while holding Tennessee Wesleyan to 25-percent (3-of-12) from the field. Tennessee Wesleyan answered back with a 10-2 run of its own in the second period to pull within eight points with just three minutes to play before the break. However, another six straight points from Lipscomb gave the Bisons a 34-20 advantage at the half.
 
Lipscomb rolled in the second half as the Bisons shot 54-percent from the field (19-of-35). The Bisons out-rebounded the opposition by a margin of 25-10 and cashed in on the advantage with 14 second-chance points. A runaway fourth quarter was highlighted by a pair of eight-point performances from the Katherine Weakley and Diana Saleh.
 
HERD NOTES:
 
  • Lipscomb shot 48-percent from the field (33-of-69) its highest percentage of the season.
  • The Bisons out-rebounded Tennessee Wesleyan by a margin of 47-22, the team's highest margin of the season
  • For the second time this season, the Bisons had five players score in double figures.
