
Bisons fall to hot-shooting Bruins in Battle of the Boulevard

NASHVILLE – Lipscomb traveled down the Boulevard Thursday night for a battle against Belmont, but the Bisons fell flat and didn't have an answer for a sharpshooting Bruin squad that earned a 94-65 victory in the Curb Event Center.
The loss dropped the Bisons to 5-3 on the year.
Jacob Ognacevic led all scorers on the night with 20 points and eight rebounds. He shot 6-of-11 overall, and 6-of-8 at the charity stripe. Parker Hazen added a season high 15 points and matched his season high with six rebounds.
Belmont came out firing from deep and simply could not miss for much of the night. The Bruins hit a season-high 17 three-pointers, blowing past their previous high of 11, and collected 25 assists on 36 made field goals.
The Bisons struggles holding onto the ball continued as they coughed it up 18 times compared to just seven for the home team. Belmont outscored Lipscomb 21-6 in points off turnovers and led for nearly 38 minutes in the blowout win.

- Belmont came out firing and connected on 10 of its first 15 shots from the floor, while the Bisons opened 5-of-14.
- The Bruins hit six of their first nine three-point attempts to build a 22-7 lead just seven minutes into the action.
- Over the first eight minutes, Hazen provided the Bisons their only field goal makes with three buckets and six of the team's seven points until Tommy Murr and Will Pruitt made back-to-back baskets to cut it to 26-13.
- Ognacevic knocked down his first three of the night and scored seven consecutive points for the purple and gold to make it 33-20 at 6:39 on the clock.
- Belmont responded with an 11-0 run that included three straight triples to extend its advantage to 23.
- Ognacevic led the Bisons in the half with seven points and four rebounds.
- Hazen added six points, two rebounds and two assists while Pruitt and Murr each recorded four.
- The nation's leading 3-point shooting team entering the night hit just 1-of-10 from deep in the first half (10%). The Bisons also shot 31.8% overall (7-22) and 78.6% from the line (11-14).
- Belmont connected on 10-of-21 shots from long distance, just one off their previous season high in any game.

SECOND HALF: Belmont 47, Lipscomb 39
- Hazen and Ognacevic scored the first 10 points of the half for the Bisons, helping cut the deficit to 17 at 53-26 with 17:14 to play.
- The Bruins then responded with an 11-0 run that eventually expanded to 21-5 as the home team stretched its lead to 33 at the under-12 media.
- Belmont would push it to as many as 36 before Lipscomb closed the night with an 11-4 spurt.
- Ognacevic led the team again with 13 points in the half on 4-of-6 shooting and collected four boards.
- Hazen chipped in nine points and four rebounds, while Grant Asman totaled seven points, three boards and three assists.
- The Bisons shot 48.1% (13-27) overall and hit 44.4% from deep (4-9)
GAME NOTES
- Belmont made 16 more field goals and attempted 25 more shots than Lipscomb, as the Bisons finished 20-of-49 for a 41% clip. The Bruins knocked down 49% of their shots, hitting 36-of-74.
- The 65 points were the fewest against Belmont since 2016.
- Lipscomb's lowest scoring half of the season came in the first 20 minutes Thursday as the Bisons were limited to just 26 points.
- The 29-point defeat was the largest for Lipscomb against Belmont since falling by 30 in 2013.
- Grant Asman made his collegiate debut and finished with nine points, four rebounds, three assists, one block and one assist in 20 minutes.
- Murr finished with eight points, while Pruitt added seven.
- Quincy Clark grabbed a career high five rebounds.
