
Bisons hold on to take down Jacksonville 71-69

The win improved Lipscomb to 13-10 overall and 7-5 in league action, while JU dropped to 10-12 and 4-8.
For the second night in a row, Ahsan Asadullah powered the Bisons on both ends of the floor. He poured in 26 points, grabbed eight rebounds and dished four dimes in the win.

HOW IT HAPPENED
After falling behind 3-2 early, the Bisons reeled off nine straight points behind a bucket from KJ Johnson and four points from Asadullah to take an 11-3 lead.

Minutes later, Asadullah assisted on a Johnson triple and then reached double figures in scoring with back-to-back makes to put the Bisons on top 20-10 at 11:04 of the first half.
The Dolphins battled back to get within two, but once again Asadullah stretched the lead out with six points of a 10-0 purple and gold run to build a 38-28 halftime lead.

Lipscomb had to battle JU's Dontarius James all game long as the junior torched the Bisons for a career high 32 points with seven triples. He helped pull the Dolphins to within six just five minutes into the second half, before Johnson and Tanner Shulman put on a show.
The duo scored 15 straight points for the Bisons, burying three deep shots, to help take their largest lead of the night, 63-47, with 9:03 to play.

Over the next six minutes, Lipscomb went ice cold and JU took advantage, scoring 17 consecutive point to take a 64-63 lead over the purple and gold.
Asadullah responded on the next trip down the floor before Parker Hazen slammed home a dunk and Johnson added another layup to put Lipscomb back up five.

JU's James made it a 2-point game after his 7th three of the game, but Johnson and Hazen sealed the victory at the free throw line.

HERD NOTES
- Lipscomb outscored JU 40-26 in the paint and 13-10 off turnovers.
- The Bisons shot 47.3 percent from the floor and held the Dolphins to a 42.4 percent clip.
- Asadullah's 26 points were his 2nd-most of the season and his third 20-point outing in the last four games. He shot 12-of-17 from the floor and grabbed five offensive boards in 30 minutes.
- Johnson finished with 19 points and dished a season and team high seven assists. He hit two triples and went 5-of-8 at the line.
- Shulman added a career high eight points and two rebounds in just eight minutes off the bench.
- Hazen chipped in seven points, six boards, three steals and two blocks in 22 minutes.
- Romeao Ferguson finished with four points, seven rebounds and two blocks.
- Lipscomb went 14-of-20 at the stripe and 5-of-20 from deep.
- JU shot 10-of-15 at the line and 9-of-29 from beyond the arc.
