Lipscomb Defeats North Alabama in Straight Sets

NASHVILLE – Lipscomb Volleyball continued to roll, winning its third-straight match as they downed Atlantic Sun foe North Alabama 3-0 in straight sets Monday night at Allen Arena. 
 
The Bisons improved to 6-1 on the season while the Lions fell to 0-4. The series with North Alabama will continue Tuesday night, February 23 at North Alabama. 
 
Kamryn Bacus and Megan Kuper both had big nights with 15 and 13 kills respectively. Kuper also had 10 digs on the night. Lipscomb continued to use its deep bench, with 12 Bisons seeing the court. 
 
The Bisons got off to a hot start early and never looked back, taking a quick 9-2 lead that was capped off by an ace from Delaney Smith. The momentum continued to stay in Lipscomb's favor as they jumped out to an 18-5 lead. 
 
North Alabama started to find its rhythm, but the Bisons attack was too much to overcome as they took the first set 25-13. 
 
Set two started off with a different tone as the teams traded points. After the set was tied 11-11, Lipscomb started to gain momentum.
   
The Lions continued to battle in the second set to keep things tight, but Lipscomb was able to pull out the set win 25-22. 
   
The third set got off to a similar start to the first with Lipscomb jumping out to a quick lead. Brooke Phillips put an exclamation mark on a 14-5 run to start the set with a monster kill to increase the Bisons lead.
   
The Bisons continued their consistent play down the stretch. An ace from Smith capped of the 25-12 set three win and the 3-0 victory over North Alabama.

UP NEXT
Lipscomb will be back in action tomorrow, February 23 for another tilt against North Alabama. The second match of the series will be in Florence, Ala. and is set to start at 6 p.m. CT.
