NASHVILLE – The Lipscomb track and field squad will head to the campus of Liberty in Lynchburg, Virginia for the 2021 ASUN Indoor Championships over the weekend.
Action begins Friday at 9:30 a.m. with the men's heptathlon followed by the women's pentathlon at 9:45 a.m. Other events Friday include:
- Men's & Women's Long Jump
- Men's & Women's Shot Put
- Men's Pole Vault
- Men's High Jump
- Men's & Women's 3000 Meter Run
- Men's & Women's 60 Meter Hurdles
- Men's & Women's 60 Meter Dash
- Men's & Women's Distance Medley
Six events will be decided on Friday: Long Jump, High Jump, Shot Put, Pole Vault, 3000m and DMR.
Saturday's action begins with the continuation of the men's heptathlon at 9:45 a.m. Other events to be held Saturday include:
- Men's & Women's Weight Throw
- Men's & Women's Triple Jump
- Women's Pole Vault
- Women's High Jump
- Men's & Women's One Mile Run
- Men's & Women's 400 Meter Dash
- Men's & Women's 800 Meter Run
- Men's & Women's 200 Meter Dash
- Men's & Women's 5000 Meter Run
- Men's & Women's 4x400 Meter Relay
The remaining eleven events are set for their finals on Saturday concluding with the 4x400m Relay at 4:45 p.m. followed by the awards presentation at 5:30 p.m.
Lipscomb ranks first in both the men's 800m and the mile heading into the weekend with
Jonathan Schwind and
Brady Johnson holding the top spots, respectively. Schwind ranks 18
th in the NCAA (1:48.82) and will look to defend his 2019 title in the event. Johnson will look to win his first individual gold medal in the event as he comes in with the top mark in the conference this season (4:08.21).
Jonathan Imes is the reigning ASUN Men's Indoor 400-Meter Dash champion and comes in as the top performer in the conference as he tries for a repeat of his 2019 gold medal in the event.
