
Men's Hoops closes out regular season, lock up No. 3 seed in ASUN Championship

FLORENCE, Ala. – The Lipscomb men's basketball team wrapped up regular season play on Saturday with a 73-66 loss at North Alabama in Flowers Hall.
The Bisons will enter postseason play 15-11 overall and 9-6 in the ASUN, locking up the No. 3 seed in next week's conference tournament. UNA earned the No. 5 seed and will play No. 4 North Florida in the first round.
Point guard KJ Johnson led a trio of Bisons in double figures with 18 points on 5-of-11 shooting with three triples. The sophomore added four boards and a team-high three assists in 34 minutes.
Romeao Ferguson recorded his 21st double-figure outing with 14 points on 6-of-11 from the floor with four rebounds. Jake Wolfe added 13 points in 24 minutes.
Big man Ahsan Asadullah finished one point shy of a double-double with nine points and a team-high 11 rebounds. He added three assists.
Carrying a three-game win streak into Florence, the Bisons started hot on the offensive end with back-to-back 3-pointers from Greg Jones and KJ Johnson before Ferguson and Asadullah combined to score the next 10 points for Lipscomb en route to an 18-12 advantage at the second media timeout.
Buckets from Wolfe and freshman Will Pruitt pushed the lead to 11 for the Bisons, their largest of the afternoon at 23-12.
Lipscomb missed seven of its next 10 shots and the Lions (11-10, 7-8) went on an 18-7 run to pull the game even before putting the Bisons in a 35-33 hole at the half.
The purple and gold came out of the locker room firing from deep as Greg Jones sunk back-to-back triples before Wolfe buried another from the corner to give the Bisons a 42-20 lead at the 15-minute mark.
After UNA retook the lead and held onto it for the next 10 minutes, Wolfe hit another 3-pointer and Asadullah and Ferguson followed with baskets to put the Bisons back in front 63-62 with 5:21 to play. Lipscomb would be outscored 11-3 the rest of the way to snap a 3-game winning streak.
The Lions controlled the game on the glass, outrebounding the Bisons 40-27 with a 9-6 advantage on the offensive end.
UNA outshot Lipscomb 52% to 34% in the second half and hit six deep shots.
