Ferguson torches Hatters in 69-61 road win for Bisons

DELAND, Fla. – Senior guard Romeao Ferguson snatched his first double-double of the season in leading the Lipscomb men's basketball team to a 69-61 road victory Saturday afternoon in ASUN Conference action at the Edmunds Center.

The win moved the Bisons to 12-9 overall and 6-4 in the conference, while Stetson moved to 7-10 and 4-6.

Ferguson scored a game-high 20 points, grabbed a season-high 12 rebounds and dished five assists. He was 7-of-13 from the floor and a perfect 5-for-5 from the line.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Just like the series opener, Saturday's game was a tale of two halves. Fortunately for the Bisons, the result was better.

After sluggish first half that saw Stetson take a 26-22 lead at the break, the purple and gold found its rhythm in the final 20 minutes.

With the teams trading buckets through the first nine minutes, Lipscomb took its first lead in over 16 minutes of game time when Greg Jones drilled a deep three and Parker Hazen hammered home a baseline dunk to go up 42-41.
Ferguson and Kaleb Coleman hit back-to-back jumpers a couple minutes later to push the lead to five.

Stetson battled back in front 53-51 with 5:47 left in the game, but from there Lipscomb's defense clamped down, forcing the Hatters to miss their next seven shots. The Bisons took advantage and went on a 7-0 run, sparked by Ferguson's triple from the top of the key.

Hazen followed with a midrange jumper before Greg Jones nailed a dagger three between two defenders to beat the shot clock, giving the Bisons a 61-55 lead with 1:18 to play.

Ferguson sealed the road win with eight of the final 10 points en route to his third 20-point game in the last six games.
