Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Lipscomb Draws With Liberty, 0-0

NASHVILLE - The Lipscomb women's soccer team tied with Liberty, 0-0, in its third conference match of the season on Thursday night at the Lipscomb Soccer Complex. Despite nearly doubling the Flames in shots, the Bisons were never able to send one into the net in the tightly contested match.

The Bisons had more opportunities on the attacking end and were close to grabbing the lead just minutes into the match. Junior Cami Rogers had a point-blank range shot attempt just punched away but Liberty's Melody Jayroe in the seventh minute, denying Lipscomb of gaining some early momentum.

Molly Grant and Emanuela Schurch both had solid scoring chances in the first half as well. Schurch put a shot on goal in the 28th minute and Grant sent one in the 32nd minute, but Jayroe was there both times making diving saves.

In the second half, the shot attempts were a little closer with Lipscomb having a 6-5 edge in the final 45 minutes of regulation. Schurch, who had a game-high five shot attempts, almost sealed a last-minute victory with a shot off of a few deflections in the 87th minute, but the Liberty defense was able to clear the ball away from the goal.

Lipscomb had the only shot attempts in the two overtime periods, one shot coming in each 10-minute period , but came up empty.

THOUGHTS FROM HEAD COACH KEVIN O'BRIEN:
"I thought we created enough chances to get three points, but I have to tip my hat to Liberty. They defended really, really well and their keeper made a few fantastic saves and that's the way soccer goes. I'm proud of the way we battled. I thought the game was extremely competitive from start to finish and it's kind of a new rivalry. Liberty has been in the conference for a few years and now its starting to feel like every time we play them it's going to be a dog fight."

HERD NOTES:
UP NEXT:
The Bisons will head to Louisville, Ky. for a conference match against Bellarmine. Kickoff is set for noon CT on Sunday.
