Rogers Scores Twice As Bisons Beat Kennesaw State In Overtime

KENNESAW, Ga. - Two goals from junior Cami Rogers, including the golden-goal game-winner, gave the Lipscomb women's soccer team a road conference win over Kennesaw State, 2-1, in overtime on Sunday afternoon at Fifth Third Bank Stadium.

The victory keeps the Bisons undefeated in conference play and is the third win in-a-row for Lipscomb. The Bisons have also clinched the North Division's number one seed for the ASUN Championship with the win.

Despite having eight shots in total and five coming on goal in the first half, Lipscomb was not able to find the back of the net and went into the halftime break locked in a 0-0 tie.

The action picked up in the second half with what appeared to be a goal from Kennesaw State in the 63rd minute as Kendall Hart sent a shot attempt from inside the box into the corner of the net. However, the goal was ultimately disallowed due to an offsides call keeping the match knotted at 0-0.

After the disallowed goal, it was the Bisons who were able to strike first with Rogers collecting her first goal of the day in the 72nd minute. The midfielder was able to get behind the KSU defense and found herself all alone on a breakaway. Rogers dribbled the ball to the top of the 18-yard box and with a sliding effort sent the shot into the lower right corner of the goal, to give Lipscomb a 1-0 advantage.

Just 10 minute later, in the 82nd minute, the Owls found an equalizing goal. Coming off a counter-attack, Becky Contreras delivered a pass in front of the net to a crashing Erin Harris, who just got a foot on the ball to nudge it over the goal line to tie the match at 1-1 and eventually send it to overtime.

It didn't take long for Lipscomb to end the match, as the golden-goal came in the 92nd minute with Rogers finding pay dirt yet again. Senior Kaitlin Echols gained possession for the Bisons off a throw-in and immediately sent the ball forward looking for Rogers. Rogers turned on the speed, took a couple of dribbles into the box, drew the KSU goalkeeper off her line and placed the shot into the back of the net.

Lipscomb's bench rushed the field as the Bisons celebrated their fifth conference win of the season.
