227 Lipscomb Student-Athletes Named to ASUN Honor Roll

NASHVILLE – Lipscomb athletics placed 86.64% of its student-athletes on the ASUN Conference Honor Roll for the 2020-21 academic year after 227 Bisons earned at least a 3.0 grade point average.

Of the 262 total student-athletes, 164 of them received Dean's List recognition while the department's cumulative GPA sat at 3.50 across all programs.

After winning six of the last seven ASUN Academic Champion trophies, the Bisons finished just one percent behind Bellarmine (87.64%) in the 2020-21 race.

Four sports (women's golf, men's tennis, women's tennis and volleyball) had every player on the roster named to the ASUN Honor Roll, which trailed only North Florida (5) for the most in the conference.

The women's golf team, which just had five girls honored this week as WGCA All-American Scholars, led all Bison programs with a 3.80 cumulative GPA for the year.

In the conference this year, a new record was set as 79.36 % of ASUN student-athletes posted a 3.0 GPA or better to earn Honor Roll recognition surpassing the 71.7 percent set in 2017-18. In the 21st year of the ASUN Honor Roll, the 2020-21 season marked the fourth time in the last five countable seasons in which 70% or more of student-athletes collected Honor Roll status. For the first time in league history, all nine ASUN institutions registered at least 70% of their student-athletes on the Honor Roll while four had over 80%.

"ASUN student-athletes continue to break all-time performance records. It is an honor and privilege to support the collective group of young women and men who achieve such levels of academic success," ASUN Commissioner Ted Gumbart said. "In sharing this accomplishment, we celebrate the commitment our coaches, faculty and administrators make every day to meet the primary ASUN Beam: Students First. Congratulations to the entire ASUN family, including the parents and family and friends of our outstanding student-athletes. ASUN Wins!"

Across all sports, 12 reached at least 75 percent for Honor Roll recognition with six over 90% in Women's Soccer (96.05%), Beach Volleyball (94.74%), Women's Tennis (94.44%), Volleyball (94.07%), Women's Golf (90.48%) and Women's Cross Country (90.27%). In total, 1,919 ASUN Conference student-athletes registered at least a 3.0 GPA for the 2020-21 academic year.
