BISONS EDGE SOUTH ALABAMA 2-0 IN FIRST EXHIBITION

The Short Story: Despite being outshot by South Alabama, Lipscomb women's soccer made the most of its chances and battled its way to a 2-0 win over the Jaguars.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

South Alabama started on the front foot when just ten minutes into the match the Jaguars created two quality chances. Bisons goalkeeper CJ Graham was equal to the challenge and kept the game scoreless.
In the 22^nd minute of play Beiler gained possession on a Lipscomb counterattack. The captain played a diagonal ball down the left-wing releasing Molly Grant who finished on the opposite post to secure a 1-0 advantage.
The Bisons hit on the counter for a second time in the 79^th minute. It was Beiler once again who played a ball down the left side, this time to Rogers, who slipped the ball past the keeper and doubled the Lipscomb lead.

HEAD COACH KEVIN O'BRIEN:

"The reality is that South Alabama is a really good team…We knew it was going to be a battle. They were playing a 3-4-3 system which we don't see a whole lot and I really felt it caused us some difficulty in that first 20 minutes. We made some changes, and I thought we settled into it. In the end the game was pretty dead even…I thought the goalkeeping was really good today, both CJ and Sydney."

"It gets us ready because it was a really competitive game and so will Belmont…It's the Battle of the Boulevard which is always super competitive. For these two matches our hope is that it prepares us for Mississippi State on opening night."
