NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Powered by a four-point performance from captain
Cami Rogers, Lipscomb dominated Southern Illinois in route to its highest scoring game of their season on Sunday evening.
Lipscomb brought the energy early as it took almost no time to register their first of what would be many attempts at goal. The Bisons kept heavy pressure on the Southern Illinois back line as
Molly Grant made timely runs in behind the opposing center backs creating a plethora of chances.
The Bisons finally broke through in the 24
th minute of play when Rogers played a ball in from the left wing to Grant. The forward took a touch, then fired a shot around a defender to bury her chance in the low corner.
With their heads out in front, the Bisons never looked back. Just seven minutes later, freshman attacker
Shadia Valenzuela played a low cross in front of the mouth of goal which was met by
Skye Baun who finished the chance for her first career goal.
The Bisons continued their pattern of dominating the opening minutes of each period when
Kammy McGee made a brilliant near-post run and was picked out by Rogers. McGee took her chance with class and slid the ball past the goalkeeper for her first goal of the season. Rogers would go on to score a goal of her own in the 62
nd minute to ice the game.
