BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Lipscomb Men's Golf finished off the final 18 holes of the Hoosiers Collegiate Invitational and tied for seventh place out of 15 competing teams on Monday afternoon.
Playing on a course that was always going to be a challenge, the Bisons take plenty of positives from a seventh-place finish and will look to build on the experience. "We made a decision earlier this year to compete on this golf course because we wanted to see how this team would handle a very challenging course early in the fall…. We believe testing our team early will provide learning and growing opportunities to improve." Said head coach Will Brewer.
On the final day of competition, Coach Brewer already has seen improvement from the squad. "The men played hard to today and it resulted in the team moving up 3 spots on the leaderboard." said the coach.
Perhaps the largest positive for the Bisons was the debut performance of Jason Hong. The Purdue transfer finished in a tie for thirteenth place overall out of 84 competitors. Hong finished five strokes over par with a total of 218.
Alejandro Rodriguez and Ford Goldasich each put together promising performances finishing 30th and 32ndrespectively.
"Tied for 7th is not what we desire. However, we see excellent talent and strong desire from this group… We will review stats and find ways to improve over the next three weeks before traveling to the UAB Invitational." Said Brewer after the conclusion of the tournament.
