BISONS BRING THE HEAT AT TOM HATHAWAY DISTANCE CLASSIC

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Lipscomb's track and field program sent four members of their women's squad to represent the Bisons in the Tom Hathaway Distance Classic, hosted by the University of Indianapolis. The Bisons set new program records in the 60m hurdles, the high jump, and the pentathlon.

Senior Anna Richardson earned a new program record for the pentathlon with a score of 3632 points. The Townsend, Tenn. native had set the previous record of 3562 herself at the 2019 ASUN Indoor Championship.

Richardson earned first overall in the meet with her score, followed by freshman Bella Jackson taking second with 3479 points.

Jackson earned two new program records in the 60m hurdles and the high jump. This is Jackson's third outing in high jump for the Bisons and her third time setting the new program record.

Jackson took first in the high jump portion of the pentathlon with a height of 1.77m (5' 9.75"). She also earned second place in the 60m hurdles section with a time of 9.04 in the race. This time beats the previous program best of 9.06 set by junior Aislinn McElhaney at the 2021 Hoosier Open.

McElhaney was one of the four Bisons to represent Lipscomb in Indianapolis. The Sevierville, Tenn. product earned fourth in the meet with a score of 3402, highlighted by a dominant performance in the long jump with a distance of 5.73m (18' 9.75"), tying the previous record set by McElhaney at the 2021 Commodore Challenge.

Junior Franziska Decker rounded out the herd as the fourth Bison to compete in the pentathlon. She earned sixth place overall with a score of 3277 points. Decker's performance was highlighted by two new personal bests in the women's long jump (5.14m/16' 10.5") and the 800m run (2:38.65).

The Bisons will be back in action on Friday, Feb. 4 at the Bellarmine Classic in Louisville, Ky.
