Name and sport played:
Adam Baker, men's soccer
What years did you compete for Lipscomb, and who coached you?
1993 (which was the first year for men's soccer) & 1995
What teammate(s) was/were most memorable, and why?
Justin Morgan (Big Country) This guy was huge, but had a great heart, smart, and loved God. I ended up joining SID with him, and even rooming with him later.
What degree(s) have you earned, from where, and when?
B.S. Biology, LU 1996 & M.D. University of Tennessee, 2000
Why did you attend Lipscomb?
God's providence really. None of my family had gone to college, so I was a bit behind on sending applications in. By the time I applied to Lipscomb, I was too late to apply for any scholarships, which would have made it impossible to go. Luckily (God thing) the National Merit scholarship didn't have a deadline, so it enabled me to come.
What is your favorite athletic memory at Lipscomb?
Road trips to games. I had an old Audi station wagon that I would drive (the soccer team wasn't given a bus or anything) and part of the team would cram in my car for the away games.
What do you remember about Lipscomb campus life during your time here?
I loved the Tuesday night Devos. I enjoyed all the SID activities, from pledging to cheap date nights.
Who were your favorite professors & why?
Jon Lowrance (Biology Dept Chair now). I'm not sure if I loved the subject matter more (microbiology, virology, immunology) or the professor. Alway my favorite classes of the year. I think he loved the subject matter as much as his students. It was fun to watch Dr. Choate (my A&P professor) act in the Music Man at Lipscomb. His gross anatomy lab was especially good, really prepared me for med school.
Where did you grow up?
Cleveland, Ohio & Nashville, TN
Where do you live, and what do you do now?
Germantown, TN. I have a solo medical practice, Dermatology Realm, in Germantown, TN.
