Location: Nashville, Tenn. (Lipscomb Soccer Complex)

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Lipscomb women's soccer team concluded their four-match October homestand with a 0-0 draw against the Jacksonville University Dolphins. The Bisons took a staggering 36 shots that the Dolphins' defense delivered block after block and Lipscomb's own defense held Jacksonville to 10 shots in the matchup.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
The Jacksonville offense opened the match swinging as they took the first shot of the action a little over a minute into play. Netminder CJ Graham collected the shot and sent it back out into the field where Kelli Beiler grabbed the first two shots of the match for Lipscomb at the three-and-a-half-minute mark and the five-minute mark that were scooped up by Jacksonville's keeper.

Kale'a Parry and Shelby Craft followed up on Beiler's shots with two more shots on goal before the 10-minute mark that were again turned away by the Dolphins' Murphy Sheaff in goal. On a corner kick chance from Jacksonville, the Lipscomb defenders got in on the action as Kendall Wade headed the ball away from the box and Logan McFadden joined Perry and Craft on a run up the field. Craft's shot trailed just outside the left goalpost and the score remained tied.

A spate of corner kicks right before the 30-minute mark added shots from Perry, Schurch, Beiler, and Emily Patti to the Bisons' tally, but the score held out at 0-0. After entering the match 34 minutes into play, Tori Wheeler recorded her first shot of the match on a team-effort run from Lipscomb's offense that forced Sheaff to make a diving save.

After the break, the two teams came back with the fight still strong on both sides. Beiler grabbed two quick shots that were blocked by the Dolphins' defense while Schurch sent the third shot of the match out over the crossbar. Jacksonville responded with a pair of dangerous shots that Graham handily collected.

The Bisons continued to put shots on goal throughout the second half as senior Patti put her first shot on goal of the match, followed by Alivia Carapazza and Beiler each landing a shot on goal in the chaos caused by four corner kicks for the Bisons in less than three minutes.

Lipscomb continued to land shots on goal but the closest came from Schurch with seven minutes left to play. The junior forward lined up from just over 20 yards out with a launched shot that barely skimmed over the crossbar.

Craft, Beiler, Marcella Cash, and Angela Steidl added shots to Lipscomb's tally as the clock ran down, but the score held at 0-0 through the final whistle.

HEAD COACH KEVIN O'BRIEN:
With his thoughts on the game – "Man, it was a heck of a game today. I've got to tip my hat to Jacksonville. The way that team battled and scrapped and just committed to executing their game plan was really, really impressive.

We had moments where I thought we created enough. We created a lot of shots and chances, but I don't think we were particularly clinical where we needed to be clinical. That's what we talked at halftime – about shot selection, picking the right shot, and not forcing chances.

Unfortunately, we had too many of the shots that we did have that were from a distance with our non-dominant foot, things like that that, ultimately, we've got to do a better job of saying, "Okay, that's not probably going to go in, so let's make another pass, let's look to cut it back on our dominant foot.", It was little things like that we need to clean up, but overall, we played well too.

We battled, we created chances, it was a heck of a Sunday afternoon game. Yeah, we're disappointed we didn't get the result, but in the end every game in in the conference is going to be a battle and today was certainly a reminder of that."

On the squad's upcoming FGCU and Stetson road matches – "Again, even though the result wasn't a win today, it was another shutout, so we're proud about that. We're going to go on the road and have a really, really tough test on Thursday against Florida Gulf Coast who is a phenomenal team.

I've had a chance to watch them on a couple occasions already and then Stetson, who's got some weapons. We ultimately have three games to go in the regular season and our fate is in our own hands.

So, we'll just continue to keep preaching the girls that it's about the next performance, that we don't worry about the future games, we worry about the next one in hand. FGCU is a very good team and it's going to be a battle and we're just excited to test ourselves against a team that I know is going to be ready."

UP NEXT:
The Bisons will take a trip down to Fort Myers, Fla. to take on the FGCU Eagles on Thursday, Oct. 13. The matchup will begin at 6 p.m. CT.
