THE SHORT STORY
A balanced attack from the Bisons guided men's basketball to its first win of the season with a 107-54 final score over the Pioneers.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Pioneers kept it close for the first few minutes of the first half as they held a lead over the Bisons 3-2 with 17:52 still to go.
Lipscomb began to settle in after that moment after a pair of three-pointers, the first coming from
Derrin Boyd and then one from
Will Pruitt.
After the timeout the Pioneers made some adjustments, going on a 6-3 run to cut their deficit to two points.
From there, the Bisons took control of the contest, closing the remaining time of the first half on a 40-10 run for a 32-point advantage at the break capped off by a smooth triple from Boyd at the buzzer.
More Bisons were able to get involved in the second half with 11 players seeing action. Lipscomb shot 38-65 (58.5%) from the floor in the second half, including 11-26 (42.3%) from beyond the arc.
The Bisons outscored the Pioneers 54-33 in the second half, propelling them to their first win of the season.
HERD NOTES
- Pruitt continued his lethal three-point shooting, knocking down three from deep, as he finished with 18 points.
- Jacob Ognacevic led all scorers with 20 in just 15 minutes of action.
- Five Bisons reached double figures on the afternoon.
- Lipscomb hit 11 threes against the Pioneers.
