Jacob Ognacevic scored a team-high 17 points while
Will Pruitt and
Derrin Boyd each poured in 15 a piece as the Bisons handled Covenant College 86-61 Monday night in Allen Arena.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Covenant got the game started with the first points, Lipscomb quickly responded and outscored the Scots 15-0 over the next seven minutes for a 15-2 lead.
The Scots got a pair of free throws, but A.J. McGinnis nailed a three-pointer on the other end to give the Bisons an 18-4 lead.
Covenant tightened things up with a 9-5 run, cutting the Lipscomb lead 23-13 with 7:56 left in the first half.
Lipscomb continued to shoot well from the floor, at a 59% clip, during the first half with a balanced scoring approach. Nine Bisons had points during the first half as Lipscomb outscored Covenant 22-9 over the last seven minutes of the half for a 45-22 advantage after the first frame.
The squads kept pace with each other through the first ten minutes of the second half, with the Bisons having a 65-42 advantage with 11:25 left in the second half.
A 9-2 run over the next four minutes put Lipscomb back ahead by 30-points for a 74-44 lead with the help of
Ahsan Asadullah's 10
th assist of the night.
The Bisons closed things out and walked away with an 86-61 win on the night.
HERD NOTES
