THE SHORT STORY
Lipscomb Men's Basketball cruised to its fourth-straight victory with an 87-49 victory over Trevecca in front of a home crown on Monday night. Jacob Ognacevic led scoring with 24 points. 10 total Bisons scored points with three Bisons scoring double-digits.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Trevecca came out firing, hitting three early triples to take an 11-9 lead but the Bisons weathered the storm and Ahsan Asadullah finished a tough shot at the rim to tie things at 11 each.
The Bisons struggled to score, going on a nearly three-minute scoring drought, but Ognacevic got around multiple defenders and got Lipscomb back on the board. After a defensive stand, Ognacevic converted on the other end for four-straight to tie the game 15-15.
Over the next 3:26, the Bisons went on an 11-0 run, capped off by a
Trae Benham three-pointer to push out to a 22-15 lead.
Lipscomb's defense continued to stifle the Trojans as the run continued and saw the Bisons get out to a 30-15 lead (19-0 run) before allowing another bucket.
The Bisons outscored Trevecca 22-11 over the last six minutes of the first half to take a 33-22 lead into the halftime locker room.
Lipscomb opened the second half on a 13-6 run with Asadullah heating up and scoring six of Lipscomb's points during the run.
The Bisons' lead really extended with a 9-0 run for a 55-28 lead with 13:51 to play in the second half.
The Bisons continued to fire on all cylinders and
Grant Asman came off the bench and nailed three quick triples to give Lipscomb a 66-38 lead with eight to play.
Every player on Lipscomb's bench was able to get in on the action in the final minutes of the half and the Bisons took an 87-49 victory.
