THE SHORT STORY

Despite being ahead at the break, Lipsomb Men's Basketball dropped a 59-63 decision to Alabama A&M on the road Friday night, dropping to 6-3 on the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Alabama A&M took a quick 7-4 lead, but Lipscomb took over and scored the next 12 points for a 16-7 advantage with 12:52 in the first half. Jacob Ognacevic scored six points during the stretch.

The Bisons continued to push the pace and shot well from behind the arc.

Alabama A&M started to chip away at Lipscomb's big lead with six quick points, forcing a Lipscomb timeout at the 7:00 mark of the first half, but the Bisons still had a comfortable 24-13 lead.

Alabama A&M, however, picked up the energy in the final minutes of the first frame and closed in on Lipscomb's lead with the last several points of the half as the Bisons took a 30-24 lead into the halftime break.

The second half had a bit of a disjointed start with neither team finding its rhythm, but Lipscomb held onto a 33-26 lead at the first media timeout.

Alabama A&M cut the Lipscomb lead to a point, 38-37, with consecutive steals and buckets before the Bisons called a timeout with 12:21 left in the second half.

Trae Benham stopped the bleeding and got Lipscomb back on the board with a big triple to put the Bisons back out to a 41-37 lead.

The Bulldogs however, finally got on top and stretched out to a 50-46 lead with 6:32 left in the game.

Alabama A&M had as much as a 10-point lead with two minutes left to play, but back-to-back three-pointers by Derrin Boyd and AJ McGinnis cut the deficit to 60-56 with 1:30 left in regulation.

Lipscomb, however, was unable to complete the comeback and ultimately fell at Alabama A&M 63-59 on the road.
