After going down in order in the top of the first, the Bisons quickly found themselves in an early hole when Central Arkansas took a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the inning with a three-run home run over the left center field fence.
After a scoreless second, the Bisons threatened to rally in the top of the third when it had runners on the corners with one out after
David Coppedge doubled and
Caleb Ketchup singled. A double play, however, ended the inning and kept Lipscomb off the board.
In the bottom of the third, the Bears manufactured a run for a 4-0 lead when it scored a run without a hit in the inning.
The Bears added another run to extend its lead 5-0 in the bottom of the fifth. After a pair of hits put a couple runners on base,
John Cheatwood was called out of the bullpen. He got a strikeout and ground ball that would end the inning, but an error in the infield kept Central Arkansas alive and allowed a run to cross home plate for the unearned run.
Maddux Houghton worked a leadoff walk in the top of the seventh, giving the Bisons its first base runner since the third inning. Houghton stole second to get to scoring position, but he was stranded as a couple fly balls and a strikeout ended the inning.
Collin Witzke was called out of the bullpen in the bottom of the sixth and retired all six batters he faced, keeping the Bears from adding to its lead.
The Central Arkansas lead increased in the bottom of the eighth with a leadoff solo home run for a 6-0 lead.
The Bisons were unable to get anything going in the top of the ninth and ultimately fell 6-0.
