Thompson claims medalist honors, Bisons finish third at Georgia State Invitational

JOHNS CREEK, Ga. – The Lipscomb women's golf team secured a 3rd-place finish at the Georgia State Invitational on Tuesday, the fourth top-3 finish of the season for the Bisons. They completed the three-round event just three strokes behind tournament champion Xavier after posting a 912 (303-306-303).
Freshman Lauren Thompson led wire-to-wire across the two days to win individual medalist honors for the first time in her career. Thompson finished with an even-par 216 for the week after firing a -2, 70 for the low round of the day in the field.
She started hot with four birdies on the front nine (32) and eventually got to -6 on the day through 12 holes before two bogeys and a double bogey on the final four holes ended her day with a 70.
Teammate Siarra Stout wasn't far behind as she finished third overall with a 219, one stroke out of second place. Stout collected four birdies on the day and shot -1 on the back nine to wrap up an even par round of 72.
