Thompson named ASUN Freshman of the Year, Stout joins on ASUN 2nd Team

ATLANTA – Lipscomb women's golf earned its best postseason haul in program history on Friday when the ASUN Conference announced its end-of-year awards.

Lauren Thompson was named the ASUN's Freshman of the Year, while she and Siarra Stout both earned spots on the All-Conference second team. They are the first-ever all-conference selections in the program's D-I era.

Thompson became the first-ever Freshman of the Year for the Bisons program. She finished the best individual season in program history for Lipscomb. She posted a team-leading 74.03 stroke average across 10 tournaments and 30 rounds, 11 of which were at par or better while carding a program-record 63 birdies. The Dothan, Alabama native's 11 rounds of par or better this season were more than any other Bisons had recorded in their career. Thompson posted the four best round of the season for the Bisons (68-68-69-69) to lead the squad with four rounds in the 60s.

She recorded nine top-20 finishes this season and six top-10's, while winning her first-career event at the Georgia State Invitational behind an even par 216 total.

Thompson set program records with the lowest totals for 36-holes (-4, 140) and 54-holes (-4, 209 and she tied the program record twice this season with the low round versus par with a pair of 68s (-4) at the Lady Red Wolves Classic and the Terrier Intercollegiate.

She led the team in par 3 scoring (3.14), par 4 scoring (4.16) and finished second in par 5 scoring (5.06)

Stout also posted one of the best seasons in program history on the links, recording a 74.37 stroke average across 27 rounds in her first season as a Bison. That ranks as the 3rd-best scoring average for a single-season in program history.

She finished top-25 in all nine tournaments, top-15 in seven, top-10 in five and earned medalist honors at the Rivertowne Intercollege after carding a -2, 214.

Stout has six rounds or par or better, marking the 2nd-most of any Bison in program history. She leads the team with an 88.4 finish percentage, the highest ever for a Bison.

Her 58 birdies are 4th-most ever in a single-season, while her three eagles are the most ever. She also led the team with a 4.94 scoring average on par 5's and finished second on par 4's at 4.22 and par 3's at 3.16.

The Bisons will be in action this weekend at the ASUN Championship. Action starts on Easter Sunday, April 17 and runs through April 19 at Kinderlou Forest Golf Club in Valdosta, Georgia.
