Men’s Tennis Hosts Jacksonville State on Senior Day

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Lipscomb's men's tennis team hosted Jacksonville State on Saturday for their final home match of the season as they celebrated their four seniors. The Bisons fell to the Gamecocks 2-5 to conclude their 2021-22 season.
 
After honoring their seniors, the Bisons got the match underway with some aggressive doubles play.
 
Graduate students Pedro Uribe and Gonzalo Garcia-Nieto competed at the top spot for the Bisons where they went 2-6 against their Gamecocks foes.
 
Graduate student Sam Fischer partnered with junior Alex Mesquida on court two where the duo went 3-6 against their own competitors to decide the doubles point in favor of Jacksonville State.
 
Graduate student David Skrabut and senior Jake Penny occupied the No. 3 position for the Bisons, but their match was halted at 2-5 when the Gamecocks clinched the doubles point.
 
Singles play started off with quick, tenacious play from both teams.

The first two singles points went to the Gamecocks as Sam Fischer fell 3-6, 2-6 on court five, followed by Gonzalo Garcia-Nieto going 4-6, 4-6 against his opponent on court four.
 
Pedro Uribe struck back with a win for the Bisons at the No. 4 position as he took down his Jacksonville State adversary in two sets to put Lipscomb on the board (6-3, 7-5).
 
The squads traded blows at on the top two courts as Jacksonville State clinched the match to go up 4-1 with the defeat of Maksim Bogdanovich on court one (6-1, 5-7, 0-6).
 
Alex Mesquida returned the favor with a three-set win of his own at the No. 2 position as he went 6-3, 3-6, 7-5 over his Gamecock opponent.
 
Court six was the final court to finish as sophomore Luka Stojanovic battled it out in a three-set heartbreaker to conclude the match (7-6 (7-4), 2-6, 6-7 (4-7)).
