Michael Dunkelberger got off to a brilliant start in his ninth start of the season, retiring the Bears in just four pitches in the top of the first. The Bisons took advantage in the bottom of the inning, scoring a run for a 1-0 lead on a pair of knocks from
Maddux Houghton and
Mason Lundgrin and a sac fly from
Malik Williams.
The Bisons doubled its lead in the bottom of the second when
Ethan Stamps connected on a two-out single and advanced to second on a throwing error. Stamps scored when
Chaz Bertolani put a ball in right field for a 2-0 lead.
Central Arkansas responded in the top of the third with a flurry of offense to tie the game 2-2. Lipscomb responded by getting the go-ahead run on base in both the third and fourth innings but were unable to drive the run across home plate and the game would head to the fifth inning tied 2-2.
After a scoreless fifth inning, Central Arkansas took the lead for the first time in the top of the sixth with a run on a pair of hits for a 3-2 lead. The Bears extended its lead in the top of the seventh with a pair of runs for a 5-2 lead.
Lipscomb got runners on in both the eighth and ninth innings but left the runners on base ultimately falling 5-2.
HERD NOTES
- Three Bisons, Houghton, Lundgrin and Stamps, all had multi-hit games.
- The Bisons out-hit the Bears 9-8, but left 11 on base.
- Michael Dunkelberger threw six innings and struck out six.
