Men's Golf earns 5th-place finish at Irish Creek

KANNAPOLIS, N.C. – Lipscomb men's finished the Irish Creek Intercollegiate in fifth place with a team score of -9, 843 (278-285-280). It marked the lowest 54-hole team total of the season and their lowest score in relation to par.
Ford Goldasich finished off his second top-10 finish of the season after firing a -5, 208 for the event. He carded the lowest round of his career with a 65 in round one, before shooting 70 and 73 in rounds two and three to tie for eighth overall.
Jason Hong posted back-to-back 69s to wrap up the weekend in a tie for 12th, just one stroke back of Goldasich. He finished at -4 with a 209.
Austin Aliff gave the Bisons three top-30 finishes after carding an even par 213 at Irish Creek. He posted rounds of 72-71-70.
Will Holan fired his second-best round of the season on Sunday with a -3, 68. The Edmonton, Alberta native tied for 46th with a +3, 216 for the event.
"This was a very encouraging week, the men stood tall," Lipscomb director of golf Will Brewer said. "Ford and Jason led the way with Austin and Will finishing strong. Will celebrates his 21st birthday by shooting the team's final round low score with a 3-under par 68.
"Without seeing all the stats, it appears the challenging week of practice worked well as the men seemed to play with more conviction and confidence. We prepared the team by focusing on more chipping with lots of wedge work and putting. We haven't seen our best however, but we saw excellent growth. This was a whole team effort. Coach Eric Gilpin and I are proud to be coaching these authentic men."

UP NEXT
Lipscomb will get one final tuneup before the ASUN Championship later this month. They will travel to West Point, Mississippi for the Mossy Oak Invitational, hosted by Mississippi State. The two-day event will take place April 11-12.

NOTES
- Lipscomb carded 56 total birdies over the two days, the fourth most in the field and only five behind leader Ole Miss.
- The Bisons averaged 4.56 strokes on par 5's (-20), 4.08 on par 4's (+14) and 3.17 on par 3's (3.17).
- Goldasich finished second amongst the 95-person field with a 4.11 average on par 5's. He was -8 on the holes throughout the week.
- Hong led the team with a 2.92 scoring average on par 3's (-1).
- Hong also paced the Bisons with 13 total birdies in the event, while Goldasich and Holan each carded 12.
- Goldasich (2) was one of just five players in the field to record multiple eagles.
