CONWAY, Ark. – Lipscomb's women's soccer team continued their string of road conference games on Sunday with a matinee matchup against Central Arkansas. After a scoreless first half, the Bisons emerged victorious after holding the Bears to just 10 total shots.

Kale'a Perry and Shelby Craft both earned points in the game with a goal apiece in the second half. Perry struck first with her left-footed shot in the 57th minute. Craft followed up less than ten minutes later with a right-footed strike just outside of the box at the 68-minute mark to seal the Bisons' win.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
Both teams got off to a quick paced start for both teams Sunday afternoon in Conway. The Bisons began with two strong shots in less than 30 seconds just before the six-minute mark from Molly Grant and Kelli Beiler.

The Bears drew a dangerous free kick 19 minutes into play that sailed over the goal and set the momentum in motion for the Bisons. Lipscomb proceeded to log four more shots in the first half, including a promising chance at 24 minutes after Grant drew a penalty kick. Beiler's shot on the penalty kick went just wide left of the goal and the score continued to hold.

Tori Wheeler logged her first shot of the match 27 minutes into play with a shot that skimmed over the crossbar. Midfielder Shelby Craft made her presence known in the midfield with strong defensive pressure before notching another dangerous shot from a quick run that went right outside the left post.

After the break, the Bisons' offense hit the ground running and commanded the field from the get-go. Joining the line-up in the second half, Kale'a Perry earned broke open the scoring under eight minutes into the half on a quick run up the left side of the field.

Ten minutes later, Craft found the net on a setup from Perry and earned her third goal of the season while taking the Bisons up 2-0 in the contest. The squad went on to take a further seven shots to the Bears' two in the remaining minutes of the match.

Netminder CJ Graham recorded a total of five saves in the contest against 10 shots faced. The sophomore keeper earned her fourth win and first shutout of the season with the victory.

Head Coach Kevin O'Brien:
"What a great road trip we had! Picking up maximum points on the road is phenomenal – especially on an incredibly hot and draining day to play soccer. We'll enjoy our bus ride home and get back after it on Tuesday.

We have played some great soccer and scored some fantastic goals this weekend, but more importantly, we've learned a lot about ourselves this weekend and will look to apply those lessons as we move forward. Not to mention, we are especially excited to be home for our next four games."

QUICK FACTS:
  • Kale'a Perry led the contest in points with a goal and an assist, her goal marks her fourth of the season
  • Shelby Craft's goal marks her third of the season, the eighth of her career
  • With their win over Central Arkansas, the Bisons are now the only ASUN team to have won all of their matches thus far in conference play

UP NEXT:
The squad will continue ASUN play on Thursday, September 29 as they welcome the Eastern Kentucky Colonels to Nashville for a 6 p.m. CT showdown at the Lipscomb Soccer Complex.
