THE SHORT STORY

Despite shooting nearly 50-percent from the floor, Lipscomb Men's Basketball fell 85-72 at ASUN-leading Kennesaw State Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The first points of the night belonged to the Bisons when Ahsan found Will Pruitt who made some space and got the bucket to go for a 2-0 lead.

KSU punched back with a three-pointer, but the Bisons answered on the other end with a Jacob Ognacevic bucket for a 4-3 advantage with 17:03 to go in the first.

Before the first media timeout of the half, neither team scored for over two minutes, but Ognacevic broke the spell when he drove the hoop and laid one in for a 6-5 Lipscomb advantage.

Lipscomb's defense tightened on the Owls, as Kennesaw State was scoreless for close to four minutes before a layup got the Owls back on the board. Kennesaw State forced a couple of quick turnovers and converted on the other end to jump out to a 12-6 lead with 12:11 left in the first frame.

The Owls' lead ballooned to 20-8, but Ognacevic stopped the run with a bucket and gave Lipscomb some momentum.

Lipscomb mounted an 18-6 run to get things back within six, 26-20, with 4:30 left to play when Ognacevic nailed a triple.

KSU, however, controlled the final minutes of the half and jumped back out to a 38-27 lead at the halftime break.

The Bisons got the first points of the second half, but Kennesaw State continued to be aggressive and stretched its lead 50-34 with 16:10 left in the second frame.

At the first media timeout of the second half, the Owls held a 54-39 lead.

Every time the Bisons would make a big bucket, Kennesaw State seemed to answer on the other end to keep Lipscomb from finding any momentum. The Bisons did, however, scrap back to a 10-point deficit with just over seven minutes to play.

Lipscomb was unable to get any momentum throughout the final minutes, and the Bisons fell to the Owls 85-72.
