Women’s Soccer Draws with Eagles in Florida

Final Score: Lipscomb 1, FGCU 1
Location: Fort Myers, Fla. (Pickering Field at the FGCU Soccer Complex)

FORT MYERS, Fla. – Lipscomb women's soccer faced off with the FGCU Eagles Sunday afternoon in their eighth ASUN matchup of the season. After 90 minutes of action, the showdown ended in a 1-1 draw after a goal from Kelli Beiler equalized the Eagles' lead from the first half.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Bisons brought the heat to Florida Sunday afternoon for their matchup with FGCU. Kelli Bieler led Lipscomb's attack with a shot just 33 seconds into play that went off target, followed closely by a shot from Kiara Pralle in the second minute of action that forced the Eagles' keeper to make an early save.

Lipscomb's offense continued to rain shots on the FGCU goal with Emanuela Schurch and Shelby Craft logging shots in the first ten minutes. The Eagles put up a strong opposition, making their way back into the Bisons' defensive end to record their first shot of the game just before the 21-minute mark.
Possession traded hands frequently throughout the latter half of the first 45 minutes of action, but the Bisons maintained the edge possession-wise, controlling the ball 56% of the first half of the match. Marcella Cash and Faith Adams added shots to Lipscomb's tally, but the Eagles were first to find the back of the net on a rush inside Lipscomb's six-yard box 38-minutes into play.

The Bisons did not go quietly; however, and though the first half ended without another shot from the Bisons, they jumped right back on the attack once play resumed after halftime. Lipscomb's squad equalized the score just under six minutes into the second half when Kelli Beiler delivered a rocket of a shot to convert on the rebound of a free kick from Lydia Hindt.
Lipscomb's squad was energized by this goal and the Purple and Gold recorded nine more shots in the second half compared to the Eagles' three. Despite the Bisons' evident control of the match for the final thirty minutes of action, the score held at the 1-1 tie through the final whistle.
