THE SHORT STORY
After a strong first quarter from Lipscomb, Indiana proved to be too much for the Bisons as it suffered a 77-44 loss on Sunday afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED
After trading buckets early, Indiana got out to a quick 11-2 lead, but
Blythe Pearson stopped the bleeding with a triple. After a defensive stop,
Molly Heard converted at the rim as the Bisons pulled back within a pair of baskets, 11-7.
Lipscomb seemed to settle in as Pearson connected on another triple with 3:17 to go in the quarter, cutting the Bisons' deficit to just three, 13-10.
Over the final minutes of the first quarter, Indiana went on a 5-2 run for a six point, 18-12, advantage at the end of the first quarter.
To start the second quarter, Indiana got some separation with a 6-2 run out of the break as the Bisons fell behind 24-14. Claira McGowen, however, quelled the run when she converted at the rim, bringing the score 24-16 in favor of the Hoosiers.
The second quarter was a struggle for the Bisons as Indiana outscored Lipscomb 21-6 to take a commanding 39-18 at the half. Lipscomb was held without a bucket for over five minutes heading into the halftime break.
Indiana continued to clique out of the half, and got out to its largest lead of the afternoon, 45-22, at the third quarter media timeout. At the end of the third quarter, Indiana led 58-31.
At the start of the fourth quarter, Lipscomb went on a 6-0 run, cutting its deficit 58-37, capped off by a Pearson triple. The Bisons and Indiana kept pace for much of the fourth quarter, but the Hoosiers saw out a 77-44 win, marking Lipscomb's second loss of the season.
