THE SHORT STORY
A true team performance, highlighted by a 24-point performance by Joe Anderson, led the Bisons to an 85-78 victory over Wofford in its final game of the Northern Classic on Sunday.

HOW IT HAPPENED

At the first whistle, Wofford took a 4-0 lead until Owen McCormack got the Bisons on the board with a triple.

Wofford extended its lead 7-3, but Lipscomb bounced back with a 6-0 run to take its first lead of the night, 8-7.

The Terriers responded with a run of their own. With 11-unanswered, Wofford owned an 18-8 advantage with 14:33 left in the first half.

TJ Johnson snapped the scoring drought for the Bisons with a triple, putting life back into the Lipscomb offense.

Wofford had a 28-22 lead with 9:57 left in the first half, but Lipscomb went on a 10-0 run to regain a 32-28 lead.

The action was back-and-forth between the squads for the final five minutes of the half, but Wofford held a 43-38 advantage heading into the halftime break.

At the half, Joe Anderson led Lipscomb with 12 points while Dylan Faulkner led the squad with four rebounds and added six points.

Much like the first half, McCormack netted the first points for the Bisons with a triple, pulling the squad within a pair.

The Bisons continued to methodically chip away at the lead and regained the advantage with 16:21 on the clock when Derrin Boyd drove the basket and put Lipscomb ahead 49-48.

The pace of the game picked up as the teams traded blows and the lead exchanged hands several times. Dylan Faulkner began to impact the game off the bench for the Bisons with a couple of strong defensive plays and big buckets on the offensive end.

Wofford got some separation again before the under-eight media timeout, but a 9-0 Lipscomb run over more than four minutes, tied things up at 62 a piece with 5:45 left in the matchup.

Lipscomb held a one-point lead with four minutes left on the clock and Wofford had the ball, Faulkner, however, continued to be a problem for the Terriers and forced a turnover on one end and threw down a huge dunk through contact on the other end, extending the Bisons lead 68-65.

Lipscomb was able to extend the gap to 73-67 when Boyd drew contact and converted a pair from the charity stripe and Joe Anderson knocked down a huge triple with 2:30 left in the contest, forcing Wofford to call a timeout.

The shots kept falling for the Bisons as Will Pruitt connected from three on the Bisons next possession for a 76-69 advantage with a minute and a half left to play.

Lipscomb closed things out over the final 90 seconds and secured an 85-78 victory in the teams' final game of the Northern Classic.
