Women’s Soccer Lands Four on United Soccer Coaches’ All-Region Teams

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Lipscomb women's soccer continues to bring in accolades following an impressive 2023 season as four members of the squad were named to All-South Region Teams as announced by United Soccer Coaches. Logan McFadden earned a spot on the First Team, Kelli Beiler claimed a spot on the Second Team, and Shelby Craft and Sara Kile represented the Bisons on the Third Team All-Region.
 
McFadden's appointment to the first team caps off an impeccable 2023 season in which she earned the ASUN Defensive Player of the Year title, the ASUN Preseason Defensive Player of the Year, a spot on the ASUN First Team All-Conference, a spot on the ASUN Preseason All-Conference Team, a 2023 United Soccer Coaches Defender to Watch, and the ASUN Defensive Player of the Week on Sept. 19th. She started as a center-back for the Bisons in all 20 of the squad's matches, helping hold Lipscomb's opponents to just 17 goals and 169 total shots over the season. McFadden also scored two goals for the Bisons this season from five total shots, helping the Bisons record 38 total goals and 359 total shots.
 
Beiler put together an incredible 2023 season, claiming back-to-back ASUN Player of the Year and ASUN Scholar Athlete of the Year titles after leading the conference in goals (13), shots (57), shots on goal (26), points (27), and game-winning goals (six). Prior to the post-season conference tournament, Beiler stood tied for fourth in the nation in game-winning goals, tied for fourth in the nation in penalty kicks made, tied for ninth in the nation in total goals, tied for 19th in the nation in total points, 20th in the nation in goals per game, and tied for 40th in the nation in points per game. With her 13 goals this season, Beiler tied the Lipscomb Women's Soccer program record for career goals (34) and was just one goal shy of tying the program record for goals in a single season. For her work this season, Beiler earned the 2023 ASUN Preseason Player of the Year title, a selection to the 2023 ASUN Preseason All-Conference Team, a selection as a 2023 United Soccer Coaches Forward to Watch, two ASUN Player of the Week titles, a TSWA Player of the Week title, and a ranking at #74 on the 2023 United Soccer Coaches Top-100 College Players mid-season list. With her input on the field, the Bisons out-scored their opponents 38-16, out-shot their opponents 343-169, and collected 14 wins over the regular season, including 10 shutout wins in conference play.
 
Craft turned in a fantastic 2023 season as a critical piece of Lipscomb's lineup this season, starting in all 20 of Lipscomb's matches this season. Her presence in the midfield helped push the Bisons to a new program record for wins in the regular season with 14 wins in the regular season, highlighted by 11 shutouts, 10 of which came against conference opponents. Craft totaled four assists this season, helping the Bisons total 359 shots to their opponents' 174 shots and to record 38 total goals while holding their opponents to a combined 17 goals. Well-known for her indomitable speed and persistence in the midfield, Shelby is a two-time ASUN Defensive Player of the Year, a four-time ASUN First Team All-Conference selection, a two-time United Soccer Coaches First Team All-Region selection, a two-time United Soccer Coaches Player to Watch for Midfielders, the 2021 ASUN Preseason Defensive Player of the Year, and a five-time ASUN Defensive Player of the Week.
 
Kile performed impeccably in her first season with the Bisons, garnering 19 starts over the season and amassing 1,668 minutes between the pipes and allowing just 17 goals from all of Lipscomb's opponents, only two of which came from ASUN foes. She faced 166 shots and delivered 55 saves over the season to collect a 13-5-1 overall record and a .920 goals-against-average. With her voice from the back line, the Bisons allowed just 174 shots from all of their opponents and to tally 11 shutouts this season, nine of belong solely to Kile. The Noblesville, Ind. product put together a 665-minute streak without allowing a goal from just prior to ASUN play, through seven matches until FGCU scored the only goal scored by an ASUN opponent against the Bisons in the regular season. With her influence from the net, the 2023 ASUN Regular Season Champion Bisons earned a 14-5-1 record – setting a new program record for wins in a regular season and including a 2-1 win over SEC opponent Ole Miss. For her efforts in goal, Kile was recognized twice as the ASUN Goalkeeper of the Week and named to the ASUN Second Team All-Conference in her first season with the squad.
