THE SHORT STORY

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Bisons opened the scoring in the bottom of the first inning as
Presley Leebrick reached on a fielding error and later scored off a double to right-center field by
Kamrie Rich to give Lipscomb the early lead.
After a scoreless second inning, Leebrick doubled down the right-field line in the bottom of the third to score
Kaylyn Belfield from second base to extend the lead.
Elise Shewmaker pushed the lead to 3-0 in the bottom of third inning as she scored on a ground out to second base.
After failing to push a run across during the first five innings, Hofstra used an RBI single in the top of the sixth to trim the deficit to 3-1. The Pride had bases loaded in the top of the seventh inning, but a strong performance in the circle by
Laine Barefoot clinched the non-conference win for the Bisons.
Emily Yakubowski surrendered only one earn run on four hits in 5.2 innings of work to earn her third win in the circle for Lipscomb. Barefoot only allowed one hit in 1.1 innings of relief to claim her second save of the season.
Julia Apsel and Emma Brennan combined to give up two earned runs on eight hits for Hofstra.
Rich and Leebrick combined for four hits and three RBIs to pace the Bisons, while Belfield,
Briyana Wright,
Joie Giarrizzo, and
Maci Cunconan all registered hits for Lipscomb.
