Women’s Tennis Drops Match to ETSU

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Lipscomb women's tennis welcomed the ETSU Buccaneers to Nashvillle for a matchup at the Ensworth High School Tennis Center Friday evening. The Bisons fell 6-1 to the Bucs with a singles win for freshman Sofiia Paladi.
 
The Bisons saw two new pairings in doubles play as Anja Trbeznik and Sofiia Paladi teamed up on court one and Sasha Dobranos partnered with Alina Cherniaieva on court two. Trbeznik and Paladi were felled 6-2 by their foes while Dobranos and Cherniaieva lost 6-3 shortly after.
 
Liza Diachenko and Perri Howard once again competed together on court three but their match was called at 5-4 in their favor when ETSU earned the doubles point.
 
The Bucs brought the momentum into singles play with straight-set wins on courts three, six, and four to extend their lead to four points in the match. Anja Trbeznik (6-2, 6-2), Perri Howard (6-0, 6-2), and Liza Diachenko (6-2, 6-0) fell to their opponents on their respective courts.
 
Sasha Dobranos represented the Bisons at the top spot but her match was called in favor of her opponent when Dobranos retired in the second set.
 
Sofiia Paladi put the Bisons on the board with a two-set win of her own as she claimed a 6-4, 6-3 win of her own on court two.
 
The Bucs claimed the final point of the match on court five as Alina Cherniaieva was defeated 6-4, 7-6(7-2) to close the match.
