PANAMA CITY, Fla. – Lipscomb Women's Golf finished out the Lady Bison Classic on Tuesday with a team victory in its first tournament of the spring season.
After posting a 291 and a 311 in the first and second rounds, respectively, the Bisons turned in a 307 in the final round to finish at (+45), four strokes ahead of the second-place team.
Fellow ASUN squads Florida Gulf Coast finished in second place while North Alabama rounded out the podium with a third-place finish.
The Bisons led the field at (+12) on Par 3s while also leading the field in Par 5 scoring (-5). The squad also led the way with 30 birdies and had one of the three eagles during the tournament.
Leading the way for Lipscomb was
Siarra Stout, who finished tied for fifth place after carding a 70-75-81 over the three rounds. Stout was (-3) on Par 5 scoring and finished even to par on 34 holes. She also finished second in the field with eight birdies.
Lauren Thompson finished the tournament tied for seventh in a field of 85. Thompson sat in first place after turning in a 68 in the first round, but slowed a bit in the final rounds with a 78 and 81. During the three rounds, Thompson had 35 pars and seven birdies.
Mary Kate Smith and
Ally Williams finished tied for 14
th place. Smith carded a 75-80-76 and led the field in Par 5 scoring (-5). Smith had Lipscomb's only eagle for one of just three during the tournament. All told, Smith turned in 29 pars and seven birdies to go along with her eagle. Williams turned in a 78-78-75 for the tournament with 32 Pars and five birdies.
Mia Seeman finished in 84
th place overall. She carded an 80 in the first round and a 75 in the third round.
Tzunami Polito competed as an individual for Lipscomb and finished in 45
th place. She shot an 84 and 81 in the first two rounds, before improving six spots with a 78 in the final round.
The team victory marks the second-consecutive championship after the Bisons won the White Sands Invitational in October. Lipscomb has finished on the podium in every tournament this season.
