After Evansville scored the opening two runs of the game, the Bisons responded with two runs in the bottom of the third inning to even the score. The Purple Aces closed out the game with a three-run top of the fourth inning to clinch the non-conference win.
HOW IT HAPPENED
After a scoreless first two innings of play, Evansville opened the scoring in the top of the third inning with two runs on one hit to take the early lead.
Lipscomb responded in the bottom of the frame as
Josey Polk reached base on a fielding error by the Purple Aces to score
Presley Leebrick from third base to cut the deficit to 2-1.
Jack Busch stepped to the batter's box next and drew a walk with bases loaded to score
Kamrie Rich to even the score at 2-2.
Evansville closed out the game's scoring with three runs in the top of the fourth on three hits.
Macey Ogle was credited with the loss in the circle for the Bisons, allowing three earned runs on four hits after pitching the middle 3.0 innings.
Brinkley Kita started the game and allowed two earned runs on one hit in 2.2 innings of work, while
Emily Yakubowski surrendered only one hit in 1.1 innings of relief.
Evansville's Erin Kleffman earned the victory in the circle for the Purple Aces, allowing only one hit in 4.2 innings of work, while Mikayla Jolly allowed one earned run in the opening 2.1 innings.
